Pay Range

$89,670 - $111,324 Annual (E01.2)

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

This job is hybrid/on-site (2-3 days a week or more when required).


Job Description

We have an opening for a Design Project Coordinator to support the Design and Engineering Division. You will provide high-level assistance in a fast-paced environment to assist in the production of engineering deliverables and assist in the daily operations of the Design and Engineering Division. This position is in LLNL's Project Management Office (PMO).

The Project Management Office (PMO) provides LLNL with engineering, design, estimating, construction, and project management services. PMO provides infrastructure services to enable cutting-edge research and development in the areas of defense technologies, global security, laser science, bioscience, and more. PMO offers cradle to grave infrastructure services to achieve reliable delivery of completed projects with priority on safety, collaboration, and a workforce working toward our shared vision.

You Will

  • Utilize knowledge of architectural and engineering industry practices and standards to research, gather, and analyze information (e.g., budget, duration, scope, justification) to be used in reporting documentation, audits, and presentations.
  • Facilitate activities and interact regularly with engineering staff, and other key stakeholders including project managers, LLNL reviewers, project controls, and clients to assist with production of design deliverables.
  • Research and gather information to develop and implement new techniques regarding process/procedures improving engineering workflow and resource loading.
  • Assist Design Managers with scheduling design deliverables and design reviews.
  • Maintain and update division resource loading tools.
  • Assist the division leader and discipline leads in ensuring that projects have proper resources allocated.
  • Assist with production of technical packages for procurement of design and construction services.
  • Independently address areas of concern with appropriate follow-up to design manager or division leader.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant functional discipline or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience in a fast-paced engineering, facility or project management environment and knowledge of architectural and engineering industry standards.
  • Experience with budget and schedule tracking and communicating project status with stakeholders.
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting data.
  • Experience planning own work and prioritizing tasks.
  • Experience facilitating functional business processes by providing a clear understanding and communicating expectations.
  • Experience in communication and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively collaborate within a team environment.
  • Experience in creating and using Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word and Project.
  • Demonstrated advanced problem solving and decision-making skills to anticipate, identify, and independently recommend appropriate actions and solutions to complex problems.

Qualifications we desire

  • Working knowledge of engineering industry practices including scopes of work and technical specifications.
  • Experience working for an A/E (Architectural and Engineering) firm.
  • Significant experience creating and using Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word and Project and Power BI
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
