Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Excellence, the Clinical Excellence Manager manages the operational, financial, and personnel activities of Clinical Excellence, including strategic initiatives of CDS quality programs, centers of excellence and quality collaboratives, top decile in key clinical outcomes, and facilitation of improvements identified through patient safety initiatives. The Clinical Excellence Manager collaborates with leadership from facilities, medical staff, health plan, and population health to develop and implement programs of excellence. The Manager also assists in identifying opportunities for improvement through data, PDSA cycles, and patient safety initiatives, and leads/facilitates improvement work in partnership with operational leaders. The Clinical Excellence Manager functions as a subject matter expert for quality methodologies, facilitating, coaching, and supporting quality initiatives. The Manager ultimately ensures the work of Quality Institute Clinical Excellence team is data driven, embedded in best practice, action oriented, and timely in response to CDS quality related needs and in conjunction with expectations of operational leaders.

Ideal Candidate:

Bachelor's Degree in a clinical field or bachelor's degree with healthcare experience, Master's Degree preferred. Requires 3 years in healthcare quality, with experience in managing employees outside of a quality setting or managing formal quality programs/projects, including experience managing clinical quality data and measurement, Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) tools for improvement, and root cause analysis/event investigation.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with Director of Clinical Excellence in the planning, organizing, and oversight of operational, financial, and personnel activities of the Quality Institute.
  • Oversees work of employees, including annual evaluation, ongoing feedback, and assistance with plans of correction as needed
  • Plans, coordinates, implements, directs, and evaluates the CDS Quality Institutes programs to include assessment of the needs of all clinical programs, which are Physician Staff Quality, Behavioral Health, women, children, Surgical and Procedural, Stroke, Neurosciences, Heart and Vascular, Transplant, Adult, and Falls. Establishment and development of program indicators, adherence to federal, state, local, and other regulatory agencies, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Direct oversight of PDS CMS data submission for Inpatient Quality Reporting Program, Inpatient Psychiatric Quality Reporting Program, and Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting Program.
  • Serves as a leader, mentor, and role model in quality assurance and performance improvement for PHS, coordinating policy and procedure development and knowledge sharing.
  • Serves as a resource regarding quality theory and practice, especially as it relates to:
    -Development and evaluation of quality and safety program
    -Conducting risk analysis, using established techniques and strategies
    -Leading, facilitating, or serving on related committees
    -Conducting root cause analysis or special cause investigation in cases of serious clinical events as deemed necessary by regulatory standards.
    -Just Culture implementation
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
