With patients from local communities and 160 countries around the world, we're committed to reflecting the spectrum of their cultures, while opening doors of opportunity for our team. The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program (DHHP) at Boston Children's Hospital provides comprehensive evaluation and consultative services to D/deaf and hard of hearing individuals. DHHP is an interdisciplinary team that assesses a child's language and developmental status and subsequently assists families to create a roadmap that emphasizes communication, language proficiency, and social-emotional well-being. Boston Children's core values of Communication, Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Teamwork and Innovation are integral to the DHHP. The Speech Language Pathologist joining our team is expected to exemplify these values. Our diverse patient population and their families communicate in signed and/or spoken languages, and may utilize assistive technologies like hearing aids, cochlear implants, or BAHAs. All members of the DHHP should value the importance of communication in our lives and commit to providing equitable support to all individuals, while being considerate of one's hearing level and primary language.
