Position Summary:
The position will report to the Facility Operations Manager (FOM) and provides technical leadership and management for the day-to-day operations of facilities at TA-54, ensuring the safe operation of the nuclear work and the status control of safety systems and work control/work release for all activities within support facilities. This position is the Senior Line Management member responsible for command and control of all technical operating activities on shift and directly responsible for Conduct-of-Operations functions within the facility. The Nuclear Shift Operations Manager (SOM) is responsible for technical aspects pertaining to the coordination and direction of facility and support functions performed by N3B CH-TRU and other deployed groups, including the functions of Authorization Basis, Maintenance. Engineering and Configuration Management. Radiological Protection, occurrence reporting, and facility training. The Nuclear SOM will respond to and report occurrences per the requirements of DOE 232, assisting the FOD and ensuring that incidents are thoroughly investigated, action plan development, and execution. This position is also responsible for facility planning and scheduling, as well as assisting the FOD with audits and assessments by DOE representatives and other audit organizations. Serve as the point of contact for the DOE Facility Representatives and the Defense Nuclear Facility Safety Board. Responsible contact for facility Price Anderson Amendment Act (PAAA) reporting and corrective actions. Responsible for providing day-to-day oversight to the team. The position will have input to performance appraisals but will not be responsible for evaluations.
Must be able to physically respond to after-hours incidents within two hours of notification.

Education and Experience Required:
Bachelors' degree in technical field combined with 7 years' of relevant professional experience. Four (4) years of nuclear experience (two of the four years of nuclear experience may be nuclear/non-nuclear power plant experience). However, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position's duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.
Education Equivalency: 2 years of relevant experience for 1 year of college.
Business Associations:
Interacts frequently with internal personnel and outside representatives at various levels. Participates and presents at meetings with internal and external representatives. Interaction typically concerns resolution of operational and scheduling issues.
Impact:
Decision have an impact on work processes and outcomes. Erroneous decision or recommendations or failure to complete assignments normally result in serious delays and considerable expenditure of additional time, human resources, and funds.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Will work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions. Exposure to chemicals, mechanical and electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.

While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, the Nuclear Shift Operations Manager will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner to include protecting the confidentiality and integrity of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This role will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
